Laura Dockrill has written her second picture book for toddlers with new title, The Lipstick, a witty, mischievous tale that will no doubt be a source of inspiration for any locked down toddler. Keep your hot pink lipsticks away from young eyes! Illustrated by Maria Karipidou, this book is a brilliantly vibrant and witty tale about those forbidden things, and where this all may lead.

Exploring his mother’s bedroom, a little boy discovers a bright pink lipstick, what fun. It inevitably begins on his lips, where it looks very good but then clearly it goes for a little walk … squiggle, squiggle … on the mirror … scribble scribble … on the shiny floorboards … smudge smudge. And even on the fluffy cat. Uh-oh! We’ve all had those moments as young toddlers when we’ve gotten a little carried away in the moment. Hopefully we’ve all had those moments as adults, too, and as parent readers will be able to relate enjoy reading this with the young ones.

But we all have some concern and anticipation about what will happen when Mum, Dad and big sister sees all this mess, don’t we? Clearly there will be consequences to our actions, particularly those of the lipstick. From the team that brought you Angry Cookie comes a witty and joyful story all about expression, self-confidence and supportive, accepting parenting. And well, lipstick.
