Hebden Red Sox are Trish Clemit and Jessika Martin and they are a female duo from Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire.
Trish Clemit was born and raised in the town of Hebden Bridge and lived there for many years before she departed in order to travel around the world. Upon her recent return to Hebden Bridge, Trish teamed up with the recently qualified BRIT school graduate and celebrated performer Jessika Martin in order to form the song-writing and performing outfit Hebden Red Sox. With new single out, Freedom, The Fountain caught up with the band to discuss new music and plans for the year.
TF: What has the reception been like to Freedom?
Universally positive from TV presenters, radio DJs, music journalists, etc. If there has been a negative reaction from someone lurking in some dark corner somewhere, we (Trish Clemit and Jessika Martin – Hebden Red Sox) certainly haven’t seen it! We challenge you all to find any negative reactions and to present them to us in order that we can carve up the perpetrators!!!
TF: Can you some up the track in one sentence?
A celebration of the freedom we all enjoyed pre-pandemic and the freedom we perhaps all failed to appreciate properly until it was gone.
TF: What are your plans for the rest of the year?
We (Hebden Red Sox) have an album coming out in the autumn which we’re currently recording at Fairview Studios in Hull and we’ll be touring that album through until the end of this year.
TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live?
Hebden Bridge Trades Club in our home town of Hebden Bridge (West Yorkshire), which has previously played host to such great acts as Patti Smith, The Fall and Scritti Politti amongst many others.
TF: Where is the next place you look forward to gigging?
At the ‘Louder Than Words’ festival in Manchester where we’ve been booked to appear alongside some major musical and literary figures who just happen to be great idols of ours.
