Legal High is the exciting and energetic new single from Scottish pop duo The Eves. Released on Friday 17 September, it comes hot on the heels of the pair’s outstanding last release, Brand New Day. The band spoke with The Fountain about the new music as well as plans for later in the year.
TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like to Legal High?
We’ve had a great response so far! People seem to be loving it – we’ve received so many lovely messages of support!
We managed to chart in the top 25 in the iTunes pop charts on our day of release, which was no mean feat in a week where Ed Sheeran and ABBA were dominating with multiple songs in there, so we’re really proud of that! Responses have been ranging from ‘this will wake me up in the morning’ to lots of people feeling nostalgic saying it reminds them of the 80s!
TF: And can you sum up the track in one sentence?
The song is about that euphoric feeling of falling in love – the pure energy that hits you when it takes over your senses!
TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year?
We are back in rehearsals now to work through our live set in preparation for live shows. We’re also collaborating on new music with producer and songwriter Steve Chrisanthou (Paloma Faith, Gabrielle, Corrine Bailey Rae) as well as songwriter Jim Duguid (Paolo Nutini).
TF: When can we next expect a live show from you now that venues and gigs are kicking off again?
We have a headline show coming up at Dr Bells Baths in Edinburgh on 28th Oct. We’re also booked for some festivals next year including Tiree Music Festival and Macmillan Acoustic Picnic Music Festival.
We have some enquiries coming in for more performances before the end of this year too so we’ll see where that takes us!
