Sam and the Womp have just dropped new video for their new track, Sun Dance (2nd September). The multi-platinum London band’s first music in three years is now paired with visuals as bright and energising as any sunny day. Traversing through a universe of technicolour wonderment, the new video finds the band busting-a-groove in honour of the heavenly body found at the centre of our solar system, apt for the track. The Fountain caught up with the band to discuss the new music and plans to play live.
TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like to Sun Dance?
Great feedback from fans and some amazing dancing and interaction at shows. People seem to be enjoying the upbeat positive energy from this collaboration with the K.O.G.
TF: And can you sum up the track in one sentence?
Sun Dance is a positive celebration in honour of the heavenly body found at the centre of our solar system!
Upbeat Brassy Afro Dance sunshine vibes.
TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year?
We have more exciting releases lined up for this year and next, leading up to the ten year anniversary of our UK number 1 next year.
TF: When can we next expect a live show from you now that venues and gigs are kicking off again?
We have been flat out performing at festivals this Summer since the UK opened up. We have very much enjoyed playing together again after such a long break. Wilderness festival was a massive highlight with a packed audience screaming back our lyrics. The last gig was in Bristol with 8 piece band and we steamed to over 2000 people.
