Last Of The Old School (LOTOS) has recently dropped new EP, Check Mate, and has already had interest from BBC Introducing and BBC 1Xtra. With this and more stuff to come, The Fountain caught up with the female rapper to discuss the reception, the plans and hopes to play Glastonbury in the near future.

TF: You have a new EP out, what has the reception been like to Check Mate?

The reception has completely blown us away.  Before it was even released we had interest from BBC Introducing and BBC 1Xtra who had first play.  Both the industry and the fans are in love.  On top of that, getting to work with some of the best in the industry from Fumez The Engineer (Plugged In, Russ Millions, Arrdee, Digga Dee, Kwengface) to Platinum producer Mazza there is nothing more we could ask for.

TF: How would you sum up the record in one sentence?

Ideologically conscious inimitable contribution to new wav drill and grime.

TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this release?

We are currently working on two new albums and a new single, it’s so exciting we cannot wait to hear what everyone thinks.  More in the same vein as our previous platinum and gold albums.

TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?

We are the first Scottish Hip Hop act to play Glastonbury which is an honour that no award could ever compare to.  Now that we have reverted to the band name it would be great to play again under Last Of The Old School in 2022.
