Katherine Aly dropped her single, Glow & Ignite, on 16th July 2021, and it has already received first spin thanks to BBC Introducing. She is a relative newcomer but has already been featured in Vogue Italia, in The Scotsman and across the BBC. With new track out Katherine spoke with The Fountain about the reception to the new music and plans to perform live again.

TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like to Glow & Ignite?

I’m pleased to say this song has been very well received, with my first spin via BBC Introducing and a couple more times after that and it’s currently Single of the Week on the Afternoon Show with Janice Forsyth, with whom I recently had a lovely chat about it, my music career so far and all the exciting plans I have coming up!

TF: And can you sum up the track in one sentence?

Glow in your darkness, ignite your creativity from the little spark that keeps you going, you’re not alone even when it feels like it.

TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year?

I’m currently in the studio finishing next year’s releases while rehearsing with my band for our upcoming shows. We have a few coming up and I can’t wait. I’ll be releasing more music in the next few months leading up to a bigger release at the end of 2021!

TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?

Our first show back post pandemic-break is at The Hug & Pint in Glasgow on 28 August at Endless Summer supporting Leif Coffield. It’s one of my favourite venues, just like Sneaky Pete’s in Edinburgh but the place I’m really looking forward to returning to is summer festivals! We’re playing Lindisfarne’s main stage Saturday 4 September; come and check us out!
