Gavin Thorpe has returned with a brand new single The Meaning, via Distiller Records. The follow up to the Bristol based singers single Rise Above, this track is the second single to be taken from the forthcoming Rewind project, an album featuring twelve songs, spanning over 20 years and collecting together re-recorded tracks from Gavin’s five albums. Gavin spoke with The Fountain about the new music, plans and favourite venues.
TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like to The Meaning?
It has been great to get this song out there as it is my favourite track off the record. The feedback has been really positive as I think a lot of us are looking for some meaning at the moment.
TF: And can you sum up the track in one sentence?
A cocktail of The Verve, Rolling Stones and Fleetwood Mac.
TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year?
The album is out September 17th and then some gigs to follow and write some new tunes.
TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?
My favourite venue is Bristol is The Louisiana because it’s where I did my first ever gig. My next gig is at The Folkhouse in Bristol on the 17th September for the album launch.
