Fronted by infamous identical twins Donald (The Hornet) and Stuart (Smackay) Mackay, the Dunfermline dream team, TwinsTown, are delighted to present their first release. A sunshine gilded guitar-pop gem that sounds something like a cross between Steve Harley’s seventies rock statements and The View’s energetic indie trailblazers, Dive In is a bright and breezy introduction to one of Scotland’s must-watch new talents. The Fountain caught up with the band to discuss Dive In and the rest of their plans for the year.
TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like to Dive In?
It’s been class it’s been great for the band, great for Whanga Records and great for Dunfermline’s music scene!
TF: And can you sum up the track in one sentence?
It’s a summer anthem and is giving people hope, it’s kept us going and hopefully can do the same for the rest of the world!
TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year?
The entire album’s finished and ready to go so we’ll be releasing more singles in the coming months and ramping up the live shows.
TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?
The Barrowlands in Glasgow was definitely the highlight of our gigging career so, as we played there in our former band Wôlves. We hope to return there with TwinsTown and absolutely FLARE IT!
