Scott Magnus is a pop artist from Oldham, Manchester. He creates strong, beautiful and melodious indie, pop/rock songs, bringing them to life with upbeat trap and hyper-pop production, resulting in something which is introspective and heartfelt. With new single, The Phoenix, out The Fountain caught up with him about the new music and plans for the rest of 2021.
TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like to The Phoenix?
The reception to The Phoenix has been really positive. Lot of people including musicians who I really respect have shown an outpouring of affection and appreciation for the track; they’ve shared, added it to their playlists and I’ve received many lovely messages of people telling me they are ‘blown away by it’, ‘it is amazing!’ and ‘beautiful’. I’m really pleased that people are enjoying it and that the uplifting message of the song seems to be getting through too.
TF: And can you sum up the track in one sentence?
When you make a mistake or get knocked down in life you can learn from it, rise up and come back stronger.
TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year?
I am going to be recording the last few tracks of my debut EP Comeback Stronger soon and then I am releasing a couple of them as singles ahead of the EPs release in October. I want to have a EP Launch gig/ event and I am currently looking for venues to do so. I then plan to perform all the tracks off my EP at gigs and get stuck into writing lot’s more music! I also start my new job in September so I have that to look forward to.
TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look forward to gigging?
My favourite venue for playing Live is The Ruby Lounge, I had my first gig in Manchester there so its close to my heart. I look forward to playing at The Good Plot in Notting Hill. It’s a beautiful venue and it would be great to return to London where I used to live and see friends I haven’t seen in a long time and play my music to them!
