Laytha have just dropped new track, What Will I Gain. An indie-folk act informed as much by the future as they are by the past, Laytha’s combination of stunning narratives and addictive song composition has helped them establish themselves as one of the brightest new talents in Ireland. The band spoke with The Fountain about the new music and plans for the remainder of the year, as well as some of their favourite venues.
TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like to What Will I Gain?
The reception for What Will I Gain has been so wonderful! To everyone who has listened to it, thank you and know you have a special place in our hearts forever haha we were so excited to finally release music as Laytha and we are blown away by the support so far.
TF: And can you sum up the track in one sentence?
A longing for change after learning from the past.
TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year?
We hope to release another few singles and then finally our debut album at the beginning of 2022! We hope to play some lovely gigs and festivals too!
TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?
We have played in some beautiful places but two of our favourite venues are The Empire in Belfast where we played the very special Farewell Quiet Arch gig and also Blake’s of the Hollow in Enniskillen because that was one of the first venues we ever played almost five years ago. The next place we are looking most forward to playing is the wonderful Stendhal festival!
