My Youth is simplicity at its finest, it is not adorned with embellishments, instead, it is a heartfelt, stripped-back and emotion-driven piece of musical artistry. New track from Danielle Lewis finds her reflecting on coming of age and the myriad of emotions that comes with growing up. She spoke with The Fountain about the reception to the track as well as plans for later in the year.

TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like to My Youth?

The reception has been wonderful. I’ve been with this song for sometime now so to finally hear how it makes people feel when they listen is a huge delight for me. I’ve had messages saying how calming, captivating and reminiscent My Youth makes them feel.

TF: And how would you sum up the track in one sentence?

My Youth feels like a sea of emotions, ever changing and being affected.

TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year?

I’m working on some exciting visuals to release later this year with the fabulous Mark James Works, who also designed the cover art for My Youth.

TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?

I love playing intimate spaces. On tour in late 2018 I particularly enjoyed playing The Hope and Ruin in Brighton and Camden Assembly in London. They were full and the silence and intense energy as I sang was incredible. I’m looking forward to performing at festivals again, it seems a life time ago now! Playing outdoors feels very special.
