Following the release of his raw and honest BBC Introducing Track Of The Week, I Do, at the top of the year, rising UK artist Luke Royalty returns with his sun-drenched new single, Stay Gold. The track is out now on Soul Kitchen Recordings. Luke spoke with The Fountain about the track as well as his plans for the summer.

TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like to Stay Gold?

Its been lovely. Class to see people enjoying it in the sunshine as that was my intention when writing the tune. To get a spin from Jack Saunders on Radio 1 was absolutely crazy too.

TF: What have you been doing to stay gold?

Nivea Men twice a day.

TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, do I note an LP?

Enjoy the summer playing some festivals, releasing new tunes and watching England win the Euros and then hopefully drop a longer form project that I’m working on, towards the end of the year. It’s taken me a while to come up with the concept and how I want it be presented, but I’m so happy with it now that I do.

TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?

I’ve not actually done that many gigs before, but just before lockdown I played at a venue in Manchester called Off The Square, the night was run by my best mate and everyone we had met in Manchester was there so that was pretty special. As for future gigs, I’m playing a festival in Middlesbrough called Twisterella, which I’m over the moon to be playing with it being so local to me.
