The first single from Lucia Cifarelli’s forthcoming solo album, Girls Like Me is an ode to female empowerment; the track celebrates the divine mystery that lives within all women. Inspired by the diverse sisterhood Lucia has come to know on tour and through her engagement on social media, the song is a celebration of all that is feminine, dark, joyous and wild. Lucia spoke with The Fountain about the single as well as future plans for the year.

TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like for Girls Like Me?

It’s been incredibly positive. I’ve gotten a lot of messages on social media from women and men around the world expressing how much they love the song and video. Saying not only that the message resonates but it makes them feel good and want to dance. That gives me an extraordinary sense of satisfaction, especially during these uncertain times.

TF: Can you sum up the track in one sentence?

Girls Like Me is about the magic, mystery and ageless knowing of women.

TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this release?

Hopefully I’ll have the opportunity to go on tour. I love nothing more than being on stage in front of a live audience bringing the songs to life. The energy exchange that takes place in a live environment cannot be underestimated. Its the most powerful, exhilarating feeling I know

TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?

The Assembly in Leamington Spa was one of my all time favourites. There was something magical about that venue. It was a beautiful Art Deco space dating back to the 1920’s and the backstage area was crazy, It had Tammy Wynette’s pink gypsy caravan, Gatling gun and pool tables. I made Tammy’s caravan my private quarters during our time there and imagined what it must have been like driving along, waving to the crowds through the big glass windows. I’ve always dreamt of headlining Madison Square Garden in New York City or playing Reading Festival.
