Kath & The Kicks, an Alt-Rock trio from Leeds, released their fourth single, I’m Alive, on the 21st May 2021. The band, formed of Kath Edmonds (Vocals & Guitar), Shaneen Mooney (Bass) and Matt Larkin (Drums), recorded the track at Corner House Recording Studio, had it Mastered by Dave Draper and unleashed it on their own independent label. Kath, Shaneen and Matt spoke with the band about their track sounding like a Bond anthem and their plans for the year.

TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like to I’m Alive?

So far the response has been great! Our close network who have heard the tune prior to release (only out on 21st May) and throughout it’s recording and evolution as a track love it, have likened it to a Bond track and think it captures our live sound, especially when the chorus kicks in.

TF: How would you sum up the track in one sentence?

I’M ALIVE is an awakening.

TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this release?

We have some great gigs booked in including home town show at The Fenton, Leeds on 21st August and what is going to be an amazing festival ‘WENTWORTH’ on 18th September. We will be booking more live shows and want to enjoy the summer playing loud music, seeing old pals and musician mates and hopefully will get our 5th single in motion in the not too distant future.

TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?

We loved heading down to play CroCroLand and will be looking forward to getting involved in other festivals. It’s all about getting on stage this year. We love to travel and plug in wherever they like very loud power alt-rock music.
