THE MONO LPS have not only released new track Think About It, but have also dropped a new album, Shuffle/Play. Released via Fretstore Records it’s a record that finds the Liverpool band getting playful with our playlist listening habits. The band spoke with The Fountain about both of these releases as well as further plans for 2021.

TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like to Think About It?

Everyone is loving it. We were worried that people wouldn’t get what we were trying to do with the concept but everyone has really got into the synth mixing with the cello, mixing with rock band. It’s a bit experimental.

TF: How would you sum up the track in one sentence?

A Frankenstein monster of synths, guitars and electric cellos.

TF: You’ve also released LP Shuffle/Play, what can we expect from this record?

Everything under sun! EDM to Elgar, rock guitar  to Juno 6 synths! The concept is ten bands on a playlist.

TF: What is next after this release, will you plugging and promoting it with any performances soon?

Hopefully, when lockdown is done we will. We are just waiting for our favourite venues to get back up and running.

TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live?

We love playing the smaller sweaty places like the Hope & Anchor and places like that. You can get really close to people and feel the energy from everyone. We loved playing the Zanzibar in Liverpool. It was the first place we played as a band so it feels like home. Sadly it’s closed because of the pandemic. We love the Cavern Club too as the sound is so good in there.

TF: Where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?

We’ve not played the new Jimmy’s in Liverpool yet so we would like to try that out. Heard a lot of good things about it.
