The Fife-based mosaics are a five piece indie rock band that are comparable to the likes of Fickle Friends and Two Door Cinema Club. The band formed in late 2019 when lead vocalist (Alex Wilson) and drummer (Liam Napier) decided they wanted to form a new band, after having played in various bands together since 2012. Shortly after this decision was made, Alex bumped into bassist (Duncan Lawrie). The two knew each other from playing in separate bands previously in the same local scene. With their debut single, Next to You, The Fountain caught up with them to discuss plans and gigs.
TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like to Next to You?
We have been overwhelmed by the reception to the single, especially as it is our debut. It’s great to see so many people have engaged with the tune by streaming/adding to a playlist etc. We are so excited to play it live for people!
TF: How would you sum up the track in one sentence?
On the one hand it’s a very chill, easy-listening, indie tune, but on the other hand the lyrics are quite raw and tell a story of proper heartache, with the guitar lines evoking those sentimental feelings too.
TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this release?
We will be releasing another single soon, before then releasing the full EP around the end of June. We are hoping to get gigs up and running as soon as possible too. Keep up to date with what we have planned by following us on Instagram and Facebook!
TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?
We played our first gig together at Audio in Glasgow – that was an incredible night, so it holds a special place for us. As much as we love playing Edinburgh and Glasgow and can’t wait to get back to those cities, I think a local gig in Fife would be really nice to play next as we have a lot of people locally who are dying to hear us.
