Jody And The Jerms are a sextet from Oxford, formed in 2019. Founded by former members of The Anydays (who notably supported Radiohead and Supergrass in the 90s), the band are fronted by the singular Jody, who remarkably had never sung in front of anyone until the band began. With new EP, Sensation, out, The Fountain caught up with Niall from the band to discuss plans and venues.

TF: You have a new EP out, what can we expect from Sensation?

Energetic, heartfelt and honest songs that combine a lot of nostalgic flavours and sentiment, but still stands out in the ever-changing musical landscape. There are six of us in the band who all contribute in a unique way to create something fresh.

TF: How would you sum up the visuals in one sentence?

The videos for Sensation and Never Going Home are from our first live stage rehearsal since Feb 2020 last month – with plenty of swirly animations and overlays to reflect the tone of the songs – as we are all about the performance but the colours, tones and footage in the videos help convey emotion too.

TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this release?

We have written so much in the past year and improved so much as a band, that the plan is to rehearse hard, hang out together, record another Summer EP – then hit the road, depending on what’s what.

TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?

The ‘legendary’ Jericho Tavern in Oxford holds a lot of special memories, and we play there on September 11. Jody and the Jerms Oxford Tickets, Jericho Tavern Oxford, 11 Sep 2021 – Songkick But after that we are hoping to do a short 6 date UK tour, starting in Glasgow and working down to Bristol – watch this space. Then finally get to Spain in 2022 to play some postponed dates after selling a lot of our vinyl there, and some good reviews and radio.
