Emergency, a London-based act formed of Jake McCollum (Guitar & Vocals), James Katz (Bass) and Lucas McCollum (Drums), released their new single, Another Hit, on the 23rd of April 2021. The track is about social media culture and Jake’s conflicting attitudes towards it. The Fountain caught up with the band to discuss the single in more depth and plans for the rest of 2021.
TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like to Another Hit?
Overall the reception has been very positive. The song is heavier than our previous single, Blame, and perhaps requires a bit more time to get into, but we believe it’s a better song and are really happy with how we’re developing. We think this is a song which will really get a crowd going when live gigs are allowed again.
TF: How would you sum up the track in one sentence?
It’s a frantic and raucous appraisal of social media culture, covering both the vanity of many users but also the hypocrisy of people like myself who complain about Instagram etc only to continue using these platforms.
TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this release?
Our plan is to keep releasing singles as frequently as possible (hopefully at least once every two months) and to start gigging when restrictions allow. One significant obstacle to the latter objective is that we are currently lacking a London-based drummer…anyone who likes our music and is interested in playing for us, please get in touch!
