Twelve tracks of slick, stylised dream-pop with a Lynchian sheen, The Ghost of Helags have just released new album, We Came From The Stars. One of the standout moments from the LP, Chemistry follows recent singles, which have seen the band develop a compelling narrative of travel and escapism that continues through their debut album. The band spoke with The Fountain about the reception to the LP as well as their hopes to eventually play live.
TF: You have a new album out, what has the reception been like to We Came From The Stars?
It has been heart-warming and good despite all the Covid issues going on right now. We are so happy to see from which places all over the world people are listening to us and purchasing the album!
TF: How would you sum up the LP in one sentence?
An introspective trip from hilltop towns to the clouds over Japan.
TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this release?
We are just beginning really. Videos for the album tracks are coming, also a few remixes, acoustic versions and we are getting together some live shows for this summer and for November/December.
TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?
Apollo in Barcelona is one of my favourite venues. It is intimate yet big, has a beautiful theatre vibe to it and I have seen a few amazing shows there. And yes, speaking of Barcelona: dream gig this summer? Somewhere on the beach, some chiringuito vibes and lots of happy faces who can finally, hopefully enjoy live music again.
