|Following the release of his empowering single Just Smile late last year, rising artist Jack In Water returns with his first taste of new music in 2021 with the poignant You Don’t Feel Like Home. The track is another preview of his forthcoming debut album, due later this year on Nettwerk Records. Jack in Water spoke with The Fountain about the new track as well as plans for 2021.|
TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like to You Don’t Feel Like Home?
It has been pretty overwhelming really. For some reason I normally worry that personal songs like this will maybe not be that relatable, but I have had lots of people saying that it resonated with them and even found new meaning as to what home means to them. It is probably the best feedback I can receive as an artist and this song in particular seems to have meant something special to some people, so that has made me really happy.
TF: How would you sum up the track in one sentence?
It is the journey from feeling trapped, to feeling anger and resentment, all the way through to an acceptance for everything your upbringing really meant to you.
TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this release?
I am releasing my debut album towards the end of the year, so I will mainly be concentrating on the other singles leading up to that release, as well as starting to prepare for gigs as they begin to happen again. I am also hoping to work more on the following release.
TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?
My favourite venue I have ever played and also love to see other artists perform is St Pancras Old Church in London. I think churches in general just make great places sonically and visually to experience live music. So I can’t wait to play another show there, sometime in the future. I also have loved gigging in Germany as people there seem to love live music and in general are super friendly and efficient to play alongside and for which I am a big fan of!
