The new single entitled Don’t from Calica and Daniel Loumpouridi, features futuristic synths, driving basslines and beguiling melodies. Calica burst onto the scene on TikTok with over 10 million views. Her fanbase is growing rapidly connecting with her emotional indie pop. Daniel has millions of streams on Spotify. They both spoke with The Fountain about the collaboration as well as their hopes for the year.

TF: You have a new single out, what can we expect from Don’t?

Daniel: Don’t is an upbeat indie pop song that’s influenced by so many of our favourite artists. If you’re into Tame Impala, James Blake, or Sylvan Esso you’ll definitely be happy here.

TF: How would you sum up the track in one sentence?

Sofia: This is a song that’s about self care, self awareness, and creating healthy boundaries with an ex when that relationship is no longer healthy.

TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this release?

Sofia: I’ll probably be working on new music and releasing a lot more singles as the year progresses. If live music comes back this year I would absolutely love to get back into playing shows as well.

Daniel: I’m always working with new artists and putting things out, I’ll be putting out an album under my own name starting with a single in the Spring.

TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?

Sofia: I’ve always wanted to play the Troubadour, there’s such a great energy in that place, and I’ve seen some of my favourite acts there. The artist really gets to connect with the audience, and it seems like such a gratifying experience for both listener and musician.

Daniel: I’m from Chicago, so the venue that’s most in my heart is The Metro – I’ve seen such amazing performances on that stage and I cannot wait to get back there.
