D!XON is the moniker of Toronto pop R&B artist Sheldon Dixon. With parents of Trinidadian and Guyanese descent, D!XON has advanced as an artist through singing, songwriting, producing, dancing and acting. From the age of six, his home would echo with the sounds of Michael and Janet Jackson, Toni Braxton and Mariah Carey – musicians who have impacted his artistry today. And now DIXON has new track, Arms Around Me out, which he spoke about with The Fountain.
TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like to Arms Around Me?
I am overwhelmed by the support and love that I’ve received from Arms Around Me! I believe that this release has my biggest opening streams to date from all of my released. I am very thankful for it.
TF: How would you sum up the track in one sentence?
Arms Around Me is an unapologetic anthem of love and lust, laced with smokey vocals and sensual tones.
TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this release?
I am currently writing and recording music for my first album. I am staying very focused on the process, and I am really excited. As we all know with the pandemic, makes it hard to make plans. All I can do is control my controllable, take it a day at a time and be able to pivot with creative ideas and opportunities when it presents itself.
TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?
I would have to say right here in Toronto, Dundas Square! I love performing on that stage! The next place I would love to gig, I would say would either be in New York or São Paulo, Brazil.
