Tackling 2021 with a no-nonsense approach, Darling BOY, the alias of actor, writer and musician Alexander Gold has recently dropped his first single of the year, Tea Drinkers of the World. Recorded at Warwickshire’s Vada Studios (Laura Mvula, You Me At Six, The Darkness), produced by Gold himself alongside Matt Terry (The Enemy) and mixed by Gethin Pearson (Kele, Charli XCX), Tea Drinkers of the World finds Darling BOY allowing his music to do all of the talking. Though with the new track out Alexander does plenty of talking below.

TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like to Tea Drinkers of the World?

It’s been great so far! Steve Lamacq has really got behind it and I’m also hearing several voices in my head telling me it’s the greatest song ever written.

TF: How would you sum up the track in one sentence?

Tea Drinkers Of The World is undoubtedly the greatest song ever written.

TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this release?

Survival is pretty high on the list, followed by visible abs.

Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?

It’s pretty clear that we’ve not really got the luxury of choice at the moment considering the whole world is on fire. If anyone else you ask this question to answers with a specific place they’re big fat liars and should be rapped on the hand with a wooden ruler, made to say sorry and denied pudding. I’m going to answer on behalf of all the musicians in the world and tell you that literally every one of us is looking most forward to playing absolutely anywhere!
