Alternative-pop artist, Danny McGuire released a prescient new solo single: A Scottish Meditation on Feeling Better, which was out on 5th February 2021. Released in partnership with the Dutch Embassy in the UK as part of an innovative cultural exchange, this release sees the artist creating a space for listeners to pause, reflect and heal amidst the current chaos of the world. Danny spoke with The Fountain about the track in more depth as well his plans for the rest of 2021.

TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like to A Scottish Meditation on Feeling Better?

The reception’s been lovely so far, thank you. The track was premiered on KCRW in the US and has been played on BBC Scotland and Amazing Radio at home in the UK so I’m really grateful and excited about it.

TF: How would you sum up the track in one sentence?

A Scottish Meditation on Feeling Better is a gentle and healing pop song about having hope and never giving up.

TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this release?

It’s so hard to tell what 2021 will bring to the world but my plan is to go with the flow, release a bunch of singles, produce for other artists and make an EP with my friends Alex and Arran in the band Probably Oslo.

TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?

My favourite venue was a basement of a record store in South East London called Sister Midnight but sadly they’ve had to close that location down because of the pandemic – brutal. I’m really looking forward to gigging in the states, NYC specifically!
