Marked by introspective lyricism, mournful melodies, driving guitars and wistful vocal deliveries, Massachusetts’s Valleyheart has a new track out, T.I.K. Led by singer/songwriter/producer Kevin Klein, the four-piece formed in 2016 with the idea of rearranging Klein’s haunting folk songs (written in his home closet studio) into dynamic rock statements. The band spoke with The Fountain about the new single as well as their plans for healthy living.
TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like to T.I.K?
It’s been really great. It’s been a while since we put out music, and it feels really nice to release music again, and with a lot more coming.
TF: How would you sum up the track in one sentence?
T.I.K. is contradicting in every way.
TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this release?
We are writing now more than ever before. The plan is to keep releasing music and keep the creative flow and energy healthy for more writing. And also keep our friendships and personal lives healthy.
TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?
Unfortunately my favourite venue got shut down :/ – like many small venues across the nation; it was the Great Scott in our humble Boston. I guess is a two part answer to where we look forward to playing next: I want to say Europe or something wild like this but also literally excited to play anywhere like our hometown in Salem, Massachusetts hah.
