Stuck With Yourself is the title and priority track off of New Language’s sophomore LP also titled Stuck With Yourself. It is arguably the most head-turning track the band has put out to date, due to the alternative shift in tones, drum beat and song=writing style. Matt Cohen from the band spoke to us back in 2020 about the reception to the track and where they hope to perform in the not too distant future.
TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like to Stuck with Yourself?
Overall positive and with head turns. We knew releasing this song was going to be relatively abrupt to some of our day-1 fans and we appreciate seeing all the candid comments about the direction. It felt good to release something a bit out of our norm while maintaining our foundational roots.
TF: How would you sum up the single in one sentence?
The song is chunky, catchy and says a lot of probably what you’ve been thinking (sarcastically).
TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this release?
We have released our sophomore album, Stuck With Yourself, which was released on December 4th.
TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?
My personal favorite is Emo’s Austin off the top of my head. I love Austin TX and I loved the flat layout of the venue so you can see literally a sea of people from the stage. At this point, I am just looking forward to gigging, in general, after the pandemic! That will be the day.
