2020 PPL Momentum artist Low Island have released fresh new single Don’t Let The Light In, their first piece of new material in over a year, out on their recently set up label Emotional Interference and as-featured on FIFA’s 2021 soundtrack. The band spoke with The Fountain about the track as well as being on FIFA 2021.

TF: What has the reception been like to Don’t Let The Light In?

It’s been really great! It’s the first music we’ve put out for more than a year so we didn’t really know what to expect but so far people seem to be enjoying it. We’re all holed up in a studio in remote France so Don’t Let The Light In is really our only point of contact with the rest of the world right now!

TF: How would you sum it up in one sentence?

A sad song to dance to.

TF: How do you feel about being on FIFA?

It’s pretty mad right?  Definitely hi-fiving my 15-year-old self. Our tour manager has just got a new van with a console in the back so as soon as our copy arrives we’re heading straight over to his for a big old session; we can’t tour but we can certainly sit in his back garden playing El Classico.

TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after your single release?

We’ve actually got some more exciting stuff to come around the release of Don’t Let The Light In in the next few weeks. Other than that we have been working on lots of new music so there should be some more tunes coming pretty soon.

TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?

To be honest I don’t care where it is, I just want to play a show! We’ve all really been missing it a lot, but who knows when that’ll happen again. In terms of our favourite venue, we all grew up thinking that Brixton Academy was the absolute ultimate – and we were lucky enough to be able to play there last year supporting Crystal Fighters. That was a special and surreal moment for us as a band.
