You Can’t Catch Me is the latest video from Glaswegian singer-songwriter Kerri Watt, and the final single to be released from her new EP, Chapter One. As with her recent DIY videos, Kerri has self-produced and edited the video, working alongside director Dr Shootz and creative director Milly Upton, the former who worked on Jessie, and latter whom worked on Kissing Fools. Kerri spoke with The Fountain about the single as well as the video.

TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like to You Can’t Catch Me?

It’s been great so far! People have been so positive about the upbeat energy of the song and there’s been a lot of love for the music video. It’s exciting to see because this is definitely one of my favourite tracks from the upcoming album and really gives people a taste of what’s to come!

TF: What inspired you to take this nostalgic route with the video?

I had limited options to film my own music video while in lockdown so I had to get creative. My friend had showed me this brilliant video of an 80s jazzercise instructor recently – Judi Sheppard Misset. I loved her fun and OTT energy and thought it was great inspiration for a music video. You Can’t Catch Me was the perfect tempo and vibe for this work out theme. The retro style also ties into other recent videos of mine – Cut Me Loose and Kissing Fools

TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this single release?

This single concludes my Chapter 1 EP and between now and Christmas, I’ll be releasing Chapter 2 which features 3 more new songs. I’m also gearing up to release my debut album in January 2021.

TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?

There’s too many great gigging memories to name but I do absolutely LOVE the Union Chapel. I’ve had the honour of playing there and I’ve attended gigs there as a fan. It’s just got a really magical feel and the acoustics are out of this world. I’ve only been a support act there so it’s definitely top of my list to headline once the albums out!
