Recently Kat Saul released her new single/video, Alright. The new single will join Monsters and I Love To Hate You, on Saul’s upcoming sophomore EP. Alright is an anthem that celebrates taking a chance on love, despite the risk of heartbreak. Kat spoke with The Fountain about the track in more depth as well as her favourite venues.

TF: You have a new single, Alright, out, what has the reception been like?

It’s my first single fully owning the alternative element of the alt-pop genre. I grew up listening to alternative and pop music, and I think this is the first time I’ve really cracked the code on how to merge both worlds in a way that feels genuine to me as an artist. I hope that people will relate to the story, but if not, I really just hope it makes people dance and scream-sing in their car!

TF: How would you sum up the track in one sentence?

Alright is an anthem for taking a chance on love, despite the risk of heartbreak.

TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this single release?

This single is the 3rd single from my upcoming EP! So in other words, there is a whole record coming this year!

TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where’s the next place you look most forward to gigging?

So far, my favourite has been Exit/In in Nashville. It’s historic in my hometown and the venue itself is pretty stellar from a performance standpoint — there’s lots of room on the stage to dance around! With COVID, it’s hard to say when gigging will be an option again, but I’d love to play the The Fonda in LA or Cannery Ballroom in Nashville. LET’S MANIFEST IT (and a vaccine)!
