Cristóvam is a singer/songwriter from Portugal. Born amongst the deep blue of the Atlantic and the lush green of the beautiful Azores islands, Cristóvam’s music shines with a warmth that you won’t find anywhere else. With new track, Setting Sun, out The Fountain caught up with him to discuss the song and future plans.
TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like to Setting Sun?
It’s been very good so far. I’ve been getting positive feedback from people in a lot of different areas around the globe and it feels really good to be releasing some new music.
TF: How would you sum up the single in one sentence?
Hm… I’d say it’s a feel good song with an Indie-Folk vibe that blends the folkie/acoustic side from where all my music tends to come from, with a more dreamy and perhaps modern sound.
TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this release?
With all the Covid-19 touring restrictions, I think I’m just going to take this time to lock myself in my little studio and try to write and record as much as possible. Other than that I’m going to try to stay connected with everyone who follows my music through live streaming and all these things that sort of became normal in this new world.
TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?
There are a few that could fit into that category but there is one venue in particular here in my island in the Azores (Terceira) called “Teatro Angrense” and it’s this beautiful really old magical theatre that I absolutely love to play.
There are a lot of places that I’m hoping to visit when things go back to normal! The U.K., the Netherlands, Italy and Brazil are some of the countries that I’m looking forward to gig. If we are talking about venues, then I’d say Paradiso in Amsterdam is an old dream for me and I hope it’s a venue that I get to gig somewhere in the near future.
