Before Stories, a two-piece post-everything spoken word band from Aberdeen, have a new EP out, The Next Reason to Breathe on Ripcord Records. Colin from the band spoke with The Fountain about the new record and their list of venues they like to play time and time again.
TF: You have a new EP out, what has the reception been like to The Next Reason to Breathe?
So far we’ve had excellent reviews from Jersey Beat and Pictish Prism along with a large in-depth feature from Idioteq and lots of radio play from all around the globe. It’s been very satisfying to witness our work being displayed and enjoyed by so many different people.
TF: How would you sum up the record in one sentence?
TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this release?
For the remainder of the year we will doing a big (but not too big this year) old Christmas.
TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?
Two venues that we have always thoroughly enjoyed to play in, Monty’s Rock Bar in Dunfermline and Downstairs in Aberdeen are now sadly closed. The venues that we hope will survive the pandemic for us to play again are Bannermans in Edinburgh, Bar Bloc in Glasgow, Mad Hatters, The Market Bar and the Tooth and Claw in Inverness, Mr C’s in Thurso, Krakatoa and The Cellar in Aberdeen.
