Gleaming with a funk and a Parcels-esque panache, the latest track from this fast ascending Australian duo, Barley Passable, sees them step-up their game and make strides towards the floor-filling anthems of their idols. Step Inside is the new track from their debut EP, which is expected early-on in 2021. Essentially about self-realisation, Step Inside is about learning from your experiences, especially the negative ones, and using the knowledge to grow and progress as a human being. The band spoke with The Fountain about the new track as well the EP coming out in 2021.

TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like to Step Inside

We are very happy with the reception so far, from what we have heard from folks around, they seem to enjoy it, and so do we! We feel like we’ve taken a big step forward in our own production and writing with this one – which is a good feeling to have.

TF: How would you sum up the single in one sentence?

Step Inside is a song for all occasions, because it is a song for all of you.

TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this release?

Now that this release is done, we are going to finish touching up some loose ends on the final tracks for our EP – Hindsight, and will be working on our synchronised dancing for the live show. University has finished, the holidays are coming up and we have to be ready with all the moves.

TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?

So far our favourite venue for playing live has to be Davy’s bedroom, it’s tiny and sweaty and can really only fit the two of us. Despite releasing our first set of material this year, we haven’t yet graced Sydney’s stages, so for the moment, the bedroom shall remain our favourite (and only)  venue…not for long though.

We gotta dream big so the next place we look forward to playing most has got to be Glastonbury. Europe we are on the way as soon as we can.
