Canadian powerhouse Atroxx has released new single, Breathe, which is the first from his new album The Second Renaissance. Equipped with deep musical knowledge, an obsessive approach to production and an innately progressive mindset Atroxx has earned himself a formidable reputation as a producer. As artist he spoke with The Fountain about the feelings of releasing his own album and also the plan for the rest of 2020.

TF: You have a new album coming out, what’s it been like promoting an album with everything that’s currently going on in the world?

It’s been a lot of mixed feelings, regardless of what’s going on I feel like this album exposes me from A to Z so naturally I was excited and nervous prior to all of this. That being said, I’m hoping it will still get to people’s ears at home. It’s an album that grows and not just straight techno all the way through so I’m hoping people can listen to it in its entirety and enjoy the journey, eyes closed. Promoting the album has actually been such a nice experience considering I have a solid reliable team taking care of this, I’m really grateful for them. There’s no doubt there has been a lot of marketing changes to the album due to everything that’s been going on.

TF: How would you sum it up in one sentence?

It’s not about who you are or what you’ve done, it’s about letting go.

TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after the album release?

Aside from a couple more releases, I have two alias I am currently working on, one is Three Faces Of Eve which is a more fast-paced techno, with an EP coming out on Obscuur. I have another group project called Melora which is myself and my incredible vocalist, Jessica Abruzzese, we are making a range of music but the majority of it is synthwave, aiming for cinema. None the less, Atroxx remains my priority.

TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?

My favourite place to play is Stereo Montreal, It literally feels like you are controlling a spaceship. I really looking forward to being back in Chile Club Room.
