Garcia Peoples have dropped new track, Crown of Thought. Not only that but their LP, Nightcap At Wits’ End came out on Friday on Beyond Beyond Beyond. With much going on, The Fountain caught up with Danny Arakaki from the band to discuss the track and new work that they are already embarking on.
TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like to Crown of Thought?
It’s a bit hard to tell because we’re not really playing shows or around many other people. I know close friends who listened to the track gave us positive feedback. Some people commenting on social media seem to enjoy the middle part of the song arrangement most.
TF: How would you sum up the track in one sentence?
It is one part of the bigger puzzle that is side B of our new record.
TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this single release, did I note an LP?
Trying to do some live streams. Going to continue writing and trying to save money to record as much as possible. Yes, we are in the process of recording a new record at Strange Weather Studio in Brooklyn with Matt Sweeney (Chavez, Superwolf) producing. It’s a fun sounding record and some new territory is being explored.
TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?
Our favourite venue to play live is Union Pool in Brooklyn because it’s close to home and the place feels like home. Whole staff there are a bunch of great people. At this point I would play anywhere, as long as it’s cool to do so and we get to play something on stage we’ve never played before.
