Sam and Sounds is indie pop culture’s newest hidden gem. After launching his music career during the depths of a worldwide pandemic due to COVID-19, his first three singles Do it All Again, Addicted to You and Cloud 9 soared to over 190,000 streams within 3 months of his debut. Sam and Sounds has now released his fourth single In Time, She’s Mine a feel good and bouncy indie-pop banger which is all about a guy summoning up the courage to talk to a girl for the first time. Sam spoke with The Fountain about the reception to the track as well as plans for the rest of 2020.

TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like to In Time She’s Mine

It’s been really good! I’ve got a lot of people saying it’s their favourite song so far, and if I couple that with the fact that the song was placed on a Spotify Editorial (my first time!), I would say it’s been a very successful release!

TF: How would you sum it up in one sentence?

The song is about the funny, awkward stage of what it was like trying to get my now-girlfriend to go for me, like not knowing what to say or being clumsy around her when trying to be smooth!

TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this single release?

To be honest, with COVID not looking like it’s going away anytime soon, it’s really just a matter of doing the same thing. I’ve been back busking for a while now after lockdown eased and that’s given me a chance to earn money to put back into investing in the marketing of my career and I’ve got some small weddings and garden parties that I’m singing at in the coming weeks which is cool – but with my own music, things are looking up, and this stage is all about hammering the marketing and trying to get as many people as possible to hear my music!

TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?

Since I released my first tune during lockdown, I haven’t had any shows of my own yet! Having said that, I just announced my first ever headline gig, which I’m playing at The Grace in Islington!
