The band spoke with The Fountain about the EP as well as their plans for 2020. |
TF: You have a new EP out, what has the reception been like to We Are the Lotts?
It’s been really good. It’s our first proper release I guess because we half arsed any stuff we have brought out in the past but with lockdown it’s given us all the time to really work towards doing something decent. A lot of people are loving it which is really cool, we’d always bring out music whether people hated it or not but when people tell you how much they love it, it’s a real serotonin boost. We’re used to people thinking we suck so it’s really great that people are willing to buy our records and stuff.
TF: How would you sum it up in one sentence?
Let’s get weird, love you all.
TF: Who do you look to and idolise when it comes to influences with this record?
We all have different tastes in music so it’s kind of just a mashup of what we like and our own thing for our own parts, we don’t try and sound like someone else or try and appeal to certain people when we write our songs, there’s really not a lot of thought that goes into it, it just kind of happens. If there’s one person we idolise collectively I guess it’s gotta be Iggy.
TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this EP release?
We really don’t know we just take it as it comes. We are pretty disorganised so it’s a little hard for us to know what the future will hold. Joel (our drummer) is learning harmonica so maybe we’ll have some tunes with a little of that.
