ELA (pronounced ‘Ella’) is an emerging new artist who writes from her core and sings from her soul. The Welsh London-based singer-songwriter is an experienced recording artist for TV drama and has just released her first single from a new EP, the chilled and upbeat Our Summer. ELA spoke with The Fountain about the new track and plans for 2020.
TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like to Our Summer?
The reception has been humblingly positive. The whole process has been a whirlwind and I feel lucky to hear that everyone has been enjoying the track. Seeing videos of kids dancing around in the kitchen to Our Summer, friends enjoying BBQ’s to the track and it making people smile is everything I’d hoped for and more.
TF: How would you sum it up in one sentence?
Summer in a song!
TF: Who do you look to and idolise when it comes to influences with this track?
I love listening to Mahalia, her tunes always hit an emotional chord with me and that’s what I’m trying to achieve with Our Summer. I wanted to create a track which is addictive just like her songs.
TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this single release?
To release two more singles ahead of releasing the rest of my EP, Unfurl. I can’t wait to share the other tracks with you. They’re all so different and I am excited to show fans an alternative side to my personality. Each track is based on a real experience so it’s a bit like revealing my diary..! To give you a bit of an insight of what is to come; one of the tracks is a sassy break up song, then you’ve got a piano ballad about something really personal to me. Lots of new music is coming your way.
