All We Have Is This Moment is the new single from C.SHIROCK, a track that narrates being present, as we never know what tomorrow will hold and glistens with synths, haunting vocals and twinkling percussion. He spoke with The Fountain about the single in more depth.
TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like to All We Have Is This Moment?
Thank you for the questions! I do have a new single out – All We Have Is This Moment came out a few weeks ago. The reception to it has been amazing – I’ve received tons of messages and comments from new and older fans connecting with the song and the idea in it. Especially in this time of so much uncertainty – I think it’s resonated with people in a special way. It felt strangely timely and relevant with everything going on…
TF: How would you sum it up in one sentence?
All We Have Is This Moment is a song about staying present – about living in the moment…don’t lose today living for tomorrow.
TF: Who do you look to and idolise when it comes to influences?
I pull influences from so many places…I have favourite poets and writers that influence my lyric writing – Mary Oliver, Rainer Rilke, John O’Donohue…I love reading Bob Dylan’s lyrics, Leonard Cohen recently…musically I am always listening – I love the rhythms of world music, latin music…I love Peter Gabriel, New Order…modern artists like Troye Sivan, The 1975, Coldplay, Maggie Rogers, Bleachers…
TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this single release?
Well I’m doing my best to stay open with it! Originally I was hoping to release this single, then do another music video, and possibly release another song before the full album comes out – Evidence of Things Unseen… I was hoping to tour to select cities later this year, but now I’m not sure touring will be an option! As of now I’m planning on releasing the rest of the songs, and putting out the album, then immediately diving into my next album. During this quarantine I’ve been writing and dreaming up the next album – I can’t wait to start recording and sharing those songs.
