Based in the stunning Lake District, Ulverston, North West England, Becki Fishwick has a 1950s vintage style and provides a retro twist to modern songs and revives old jazz, soul and Motown too! Becki’s voice is influenced by 1940s jazz, 1950s rock n roll and 1960s soul, and she has just released single, Know You Know. She spoke withe The Fountain about the single in more depth.

TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like?

Really great, I have a lot of local support, and fans and friends who have followed my career over the years supported it from the release date. And to my surprise I’ve had radio plays, magazine features and lots of new followers and fans!

TF: How would you sum it up in one sentence?

A modern story told in a vintage way.

TF: Who do you look to and idolise when it comes to influences?

I’m a big fan of 40s jazz, 50s rock n roll and 60s soul, so I like to sample all those styles in my music, I’m influenced by the likes of Amy Winehouse, Duffy, Imelda May, Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Patsy Cline and Dusty Springfield to name a few!!

TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this single release?

In lockdown all my live shows and bookings have been put on hold or postponed so I’m using this time to offer free online live shows on my Facebook page, teaching classes for kids and writing more songs to get me an album ready to record for when lockdown is over.
