Citrus Heights, a four-piece British Indie/Groove Pop band, have recently dropped new single, Weekend. With inspiration from the greats such as Prince and Stevie Wonder with a modern twist, Citrus Heights were busy during festival season this year. The Fountain caught up with the band about the new release.
TF: You have a new single out, that must be exciting?
Yes, Its really exciting for us now that this song is out there. We are really proud of how it sounds especially with it being written and produced entirely by us.
TF: And what has been the reception been like to Weekend, can you elaborate on the track?
The reception has been really positive so far and we’ve been lucky enough to have the song featured on a couple of radio stations including BBC York & North Yorkshire. Fingers crossed we get the song played on Radio 1 or BBC Radio 6! Also, yes, I’m happy to elaborate on the song. The song is a kind of commentary around the occurrences of a binge drinking weekend and what it involves and has involved us and our friends. Its personal and also detached from myself in moments of the song but I like to leave that for the listener to decide which is which.
TF: And can we look forward to an EP or LP from you soon?
We would deeply love to make an album and that is an important goal to us. We have a lot of ideas and are going to release more singles next year to test the waters a bit more.
TF: Can we look forward to seeing you live soon, particularly here in Scotland?
We have a tour in November that will be diving through Leeds, Newcastle, london and possibly Manchester. We may have other shows elsewhere but keep an eye on our social media for more information on that. We love Scotland and we actually played in Glasgow at the end of 2017 at Audio. It was a packed show supporting a local band called Easy and they were really nice guys.
TF: And what is your favourite gig to date?
Actually that Glasgow show was very memorable for us as the crowd reacted to us really well and made it a great time. Our most memorable shows are usually our Leeds ones where we get to have homecoming style performances for any new releases. It’s fantastic to have such a strong support from our local community and friends.
