Belau is one of the most promising electronica newcomers around the European music scene. In two years they had almost 200 live performances in 23 countries. The debut full-length album, The Odyssey won the Hungarian Grammy in best electronic music album category. After they became Hungary’s No.1 musical export, Belau released a brand new live session video from a botanic garden in Barcelona. With so much going on, The Fountain caught up with Belau to discuss their single and plans in more depth.
TF: A new single, how exciting, what has the reception been like so far?
Essence is one of the most popular single from us, we have some good reviews and media support, and it’s second most played song from us on Spotify, when we made this live session video it’s just released few days earlier.
TF: What inspired the title Essence, tell us more about the single?
We started to work on their new concept album, which will be as colourful as the Caribbean melting pot. Through the song we were trying to capture individual milestones of existence – isolation to freedom, solitude to interaction. Reaching out for the Essence is something that is worth fighting for.
TF: And is the first from an EP or an album that we can see the release of later in 2019 or in 2020?
We had a song called Breath which is also the part of our second LP that will be released in 2020 March, but until then we’ll release three more singles from the album.
TF: Will you be promoting the single release with a tour at all, will we have the pleasure of seeing you here in Scotland?
Yes, from April we’ll start our album release tour, hope we can have some shows also in Scotland.
