The next record to be released by Edinburgh-based grunge trio Trampled Daisy is the exciting new EP, Acid Mind Drainage on 6th December 2019 on Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon music platforms. The song Ambush is available now on Bandcamp and CD’s can be ordered from Infinite Hive’s online store. The Fountain caught up with Ellen and Joe from Trampled Daisy to discuss the EP in more depth.

TF: You have a new EP out, that must be exciting?

Ellen: Indeed it is! It’s been a long time coming and finally it’s here. We worked extremely hard on this; lots of turbulence in the making of this EP, so there were moments when we thought of giving up and burying this project for good, but we pulled through and here it is!

TF: And what has the reception been like to Acid Mind Drainage, can you elaborate on what to expect?

Ellen: We weren’t expecting any response at all. Even if only one person in the whole world liked our music, we’d be happy and keep writing tunes. So it has been a massive surprise to get such a positive response from everyone. AMD is a crazy ride, it goes up and down, derails, crashes and explodes. Just like a good rollercoaster.

Joe: My favourite rollercoasters are the ones that crash and explode. What a thrill.

TF: And how do you feel this differs from previous releases?

Joe: I think AMD is a lot bolder that what came before it. It goes to further extremes and doesn’t really let up, songs demand your attention. Oldtimers might be the kind of thing you can have on in the background and just feel the groove of without thinking much, but apart from that, if you’re not paying attention the songs might leave you behind as they go off to wherever they’re going.

Ellen: It feels a bit more grown up. It shows a lot more of our versatility as a band.

Joe: Yeah, for sure, ‘grown up’ in a sense. Still makes me feel like a kid who’s had too many sweets at times though.

TF: Can we look forward to seeing you live soon, touring with it anytime soon, particularly here in Scotland?

Ellen: Sadly not.

Joe: This EP is sort of the final hurrah for Trampled Daisy. Ellen and I are still writing music and doing stuff together so who knows what will happen in the future in terms of playing live. But unfortunately nothing to shout about at the moment.

TF: What has been your favourite gig to date?

Joe: Our release party for Evil Twin was pretty special. It was our first headline gig. It was in a tiny basement where we were practically nose to nose with the audience. Lots of fun. But I don’t think I have a clear favourite, there’s just small moments in each one that stick in my mind.

Ellen: Probably our very first gig. I was so nervous, but it could not have gone better. We sold out, got the crowd moving. Perfect introduction to Trampled Daisy.
