Faultress just dropped the 5 Myths EP, which includes track releases, Marilyn and Beating Heart as well as Sanctuary and Hood&Wolf, and with a focus on female mental health The Fountain caught up with Faultress about the new release and her touring plans.
TF: You have a new EP out, that must be exciting?
I’m absolutely frothing at the mouth about it.
TF: And what has the reaction been to your tracks Marilyn and Beating Heart?
It’s been so cool. I’ve had so many people come forward and say how much Marilyn meant to them, which is a really special thing to happen and the whole reason I make music! Beating Heart got played on BBC intro too which is fun!
TF: And your focus with your music is on mental health, can you elaborate?
It’s not just about mental health but I definitely wanted to do a deep dive into how being female can affect our mental health – the pressures we’re under and the power struggles we can face.
TF: Can we look forward to seeing you live soon, particularly here in Scotland?
I’m half Scottish and was born in Stirling so I really want to get up to you and do a proper tour ASAP! Watch out around April or May!
TF: And what has been your favourite gig to date?
I just sang at Union Chapel in London, which was beautiful but I think my favourite has to be supporting Elena Tonra from Daughter at the Southbank Centre in May for mental health awareness week.
