Harry and Chris are at the top of their field, having invented the field of comedy-rap-jazz. They’ve sold out three Edinburgh shows, appeared on the Russell Howard Hour and were called ‘fabulously entertaining’ by Jonathan Ross. At the Edinburgh Fringe this year with show, This Ones for the Aliens, The Fountain caught up with them about their plans for the month.

TF: You are performing at the Edinburgh Fringe this year, are you excited?

YES!! Very excited. You could say that excitement is bursting out of us like a fountain; or that our show will make audiences wonder how it’s done, like a fountain; or that we work well as a spectacle to liven up public spaces, like a garden.

TF: This One’s For The Aliens certainly sounds intriguing, what is the premise?

We’ve written three shows for earthlings, or ‘mud-and-dust-people’ as we call them. We just want to expand our audience a bit, ideally to a race of people who eat diamonds and use comedy-rap-jazz as currency, because we could set up some great trade routes.

TF: And what drove the project, where did your influences lie?

We took a long, hard look at ourselves and said, ‘how could we best use our talents’? And, being humble guys, we decided that we were the perfect people to represent all 7 billion people on planet earth and set up an Intergalactic PR Agency.

TF: What are your plans for the Fringe, having been before are there any tips or musts you would offer to first-time performers?

Our main advice to first-time performers would be to come and see a show at the Underbelly Cowgate at 18:40 called Harry and Chris: This One’s For The Aliens. It’s a wonderful show about two guys crafting some of the best comedy-rap-jazz songs ever seen. If the show clashes with yours then don’t worry, you can just bunk off from your show and come and see it instead. You deserve it.

TF: And what are your future plans beyond This One’s For The Aliens?

As the show has truly intergalactic proportions, spanning the entirety of planet earth and summarising it for all of the universe to see, we’re going to take the show on a fittingly epic tour, a quick 20 dates around the UK, including Stamford.

You can see Harry and Chris: This One’s For The Aliens at the Underbelly, Cowgate until 24th August at 18:40. For tickets, go to https://tickets.edfringe.com/
