After twenty-five years playing music, recording, producing, performing and touring, Bob Katsionis from Symmetric Records decides to make the next big step in his musical endeavour. He has signed quintet from Athens, Terra Incognita, who have just released new album, Fragments of a Ruined Mind. Lead singer, Billy Vass, spoke with The Fountain about the new album.
TF: A new LP, how exciting, what can we expect from that?
Well, seeing that its a concept album, every song is a beginning and an end to a specific story. The book, which the idea for Fragments of a Ruined Mind came from, is I, Strahd, a story of conquering, love, betrayal, deceit, death, a covenant, madness, and life beginning again. You can expect a musical, and lyrical journey into the life, and death of Strahd von Zarovich.
TF: And what inspired you to title this Fragments of a Ruined Mind?
The whole story-plot is based around our anti-hero, Strahd. We dove into his mindset, to create a musical, and lyrical adventure of his life. In the end, all that remained of this man, were Fragments of his Ruined Mind!!!!
TF: Are you promoting this with a tour, can we expect you in Scotland anytime soon?
We have been supporting this album with many live shows in our country, Greece, and abroad!! We had a great time playing this album, for metal fans, by playing shows with bands like, OMEN, FIREWIND, GRAVE DIGGER, GUS G, PRIMAL FEAR, CAGE, etc…. its been a blast!!! We would LOVE to play for metal fans in Scotland!! Lets make it happen!!!
TF: And how did all five of you come to meet and form Terra Incognita?
Well, its been a very long and brutal process for me, because I am the only original member!! Many line-up changes have led to the current five, which I believe is the best and most powerful of the line-up’s I’ve had in the band.
TF: What has been your favourite gig to date, do you have one?
To be honest with you, I dont have a favourite. I come away from every single gig, with the most positive vibes I can. Sure, there are gigs that go way smoother than others, but, again, no favourite, yet.
