Seb Stone is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who recently recorded a new album at his studio in West London, engineering and producing it himself. He was born into a musical family from Trinidad and England with both his parents having number 1 singles in the 70’s, and he too has a craving to record music.

Seb spoke with The Fountain about the new album, Alchemy and his favourite gig at the Hanwell Hootie.

TF: A new album release, there is much to be excited about?

So much to be excited about! There are ten tracks on the album that cover a range of different genres – Pop, Reggae, Folk, Funk, Rock, Singer Songwriter – and I’m super proud to say that I played all the instruments and produced/engineered/mixed the album myself from my studio in West London, which has been a long standing goal of mine. The theme of the album is change from a very personal point of view. Being able to artistically express myself with such an amount of freedom has been a life changing experience. My favourite tracks are Children of the Sun, Home, My Mind Free, Everything, Two Gun Heaven and Set Myself Freedom.

TF: And are you following this with a UK tour to promote the record?

Yes! I’m currently booking acoustic shows while I search for band members.

TF: Are we likely to see you perform north of the border live soon?

I’d love to! I’m hoping that I’ll travel North later on in the year.

TF: What has it been like to work with Katie Kissoon?

One word…amazing! Katie has one of the best voices I’ve ever heard and the list of Legendary artists that she has worked with is testament to that fact. It’s great to have had the privilege to work with a professional vocalist of such high standards. A couple of takes was all we needed!

TF: What has been your favourite gig to date?

I’m going to go with my most recent gig which was at the Hanwell Hootie, the UK’s largest free music festival. It was particularly special for me as I grew up in the Hanwell/West Ealing area so it was great to pay my dues to the locals but also to the rich musical history of the area. Jim Marshall sold his first guitar amp in Hanwell and people like Hendrix and Clapton used to play regularly in the area!
